New arrivals settling in well

Hi, I’m Ben Hyde.

I’ve been Stud Groom at Tweenhills since June 2010, having previously worked for Barleythorpe Stud and Templeton Stud. I actually first met David Redvers 25 years ago when we both worked at James Delahooke’s Adstock Manor Stud. My job involves many different aspects, but essentially I’m responsible for the health and welfare of the horses at Tweenhills.

So here’s what’s been happening recently.

With the euphoria of Roaring Lion and Lightning Spear arriving last week, I’m glad to say that they have settled well into their new surroundings and routine of being hand walked and taught how to show properly by our stallion men Reece Sutcliffe and Tom King before they head back up to Longholes to parade at the December Mare Sale. The team are also putting the final touches on all the sales stock that are heading that way, too.

With most of the retained yearlings having departed we are now getting ready to bring in all the barren and maiden mares and put them under lights in preparation for the breeding season, which will soon be upon us. The foaling mares are safely in their groups with the first mares due in early-January.
