Charm Spirit – a sire on fire!

Charm Spirit sired an around-the-world treble last Sunday, having also produced another two-year-old winner two days earlier.

First up was juvenile gelding Sansom who won the Momentum Gaming Maiden Plate over 1000m at Racing.com Park Synthetic last Friday. Trained by Phillip Stokes and ridden by Ben Allen, Sansom posted a time of 59.45secs as he got off the mark at the third time of asking.

Samsom was bred by Qatar Bloodstock (NZ) and is out of winning Fastnet Rock mare Bryony – named after our very own Bryony Rusbridge!

Next came another Southern Hemisphere two-year-old, Intimidate, who won over 1000m at Riccarton in New Zealand for trainer Nick Wigley. There were anxious moment before the race as Intimidate took a while to be loaded into the stalls, but she led all the way under Tina Comignaghi.

This was Intimidate’s second start, though she had won two trials before this victory. Her trainer said: “She did it well in the end so she can have another break before we bring her back in the spring. I think a race like the Canterbury Belle Stakes (Listed, 1200m) in September would be a good target for her.”

Stellar Comet – who was acquired by her current connections at last year’s Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale – won in Spain and fellow three-year-old Mayfair Spirit landed his third handicap success of the season at Haydock.

Mayfair Spirit was actually dropping back in distance to a mile, highlighting his versatility, and given he ought to not go up much in the weights, he will be winning again. Trained by Charlie Fellowes, Mayfair Spirit is out of King’s Best mare Sassy Gal and was bred by Ringfort Stud Ltd.

Congratulations to all connections.
