FIVE SIX-FIGURE BOOK 1 SALES FOR CHARM SPIRIT

Five yearlings by Charm Spirit sold for an average of 120,000 guineas at Tattersalls' Book 1 Sale this week, which is almost 5x his original stud fee.

The first was Lot 26, a colt out of Mark of Esteem mare Kite Mark knocked down to Stephen Hillen Bloodstock for 115,000 guineas. He was consigned by Tally-Ho Stud and is a half-brother to two Stakes performers in Kite Wood, winner of the Gr. 2 Prix Vicomtesse Vigier and runner-up in the Gr. 1 St Leger, and Odeon.

The next Charm Spirit to change hands was Lot 77, a filly out of Gone West mare Maid For Winning bought by Roger Varian for 120,000 guineas. Consigned by Jamie Railton, she is also a half-sister to two Stakes horses in Stroll Patrol, who was third in the Gr. 3 Dick Poole Stakes for Qatar Racing, and Hors de Combat.

Sheikh Fahad and David Redvers were naturally keen to support Charm Spirit and they signed for Lot 88, a colt out of Marju mare Marika for 135,000 guineas. He is a sibling to two Stakes winners in Raw Impulse, who was owned by Qatar Racing before being sold to Australia, and Sabratah. The colt was consigned by Pier House Stud.

Lot 409 was a filly by Charm Spirit out of Polish Precedent mare Czarna Roza who was purchased by Gaelic Bloodstock for 100,000 guineas. She was consigned by Baroda and Colbinstown Studs and is a half-sister to Listed winner and Gr. 2-placed Mabait, from the family of dual Gr. 1 winner Adelaide.

Charm Spirit's other yearling to find a new home at Book 1 was Lot 490, a colt out of Efisio mare Harryana who went to Juddmonte Farms Inc. for 130,000 guineas. He was consigned by Chasemore Farm and is a half-brother to both Gr. 2 Mill Reef Stake winner Temple Meads and Gr. 3 runner-up Sneak Preview.

Tattersalls' Book 2 Sale, which takes place from October 9th-11th, features 26 Charm Spirits, among them a colt out of Diesis mare Thankful who sold for 110,000 guineas as foal. Also at Book 2 will be six lots from the second crop of Havana Gold, including a full brother to triple Stakes winner and Gr. 1 runner-up Havana Grey.
