Two Golden performers to note

First season sire Havana Gold looks to have some very exciting prospects to follow with two notable debut two-year-old runners in the last few days.

Today, the heavily backed Havana Grey (pictured) finished second in the 5f Partypoker Live Millions Novice Stakes at Nottingham. He showed great pace but ran into a colt who was a bit sharper at this stage in his career, being beaten by just half a length. However, he battled back once headed and looks sure to win before too long for his trainer Karl Burke and owner the Global Racing Club & Mrs E Burke.

Bred by Mickley Stud & Lady Lonsdale, the colt is out of the Dark Angel mare Blanc de Chine and was purchased by BBA Ireland for €70,000 as a yearling from the Arqana Sales.

On Friday 21st April, Headway (pictured far left) was narrowly beaten by a head when coming second in the 5f Dreweatts Newcomers' EBF Stallions Maiden Stakes at Newbury. It was a competitive Maiden and this two-year-old Havana Gold colt looks to have a very promising future ahead of him for his trainer William Haggas and owner The Royal Ascot Racing Club.

Headway was bred by Whatton Manor, Global Equine & L Stratton out of On Her Way (Medicean), a half-sister to the multiple Group performer in Hong Kong, Chater Way.
