Charm Spirit Sires Group Winner

Charm Spirit sired his first Stakes winner when Yourtimeisnow won the Gr. 3 Dick Poole Fillies' Stakes at Salisbury recently.

Charm Spirit's superb first season with runners continued when filly Yourtimeisnow (pictured) won her second race for owner Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum and trainer Roger Varian, the Dick Poole over six furlongs at Salisbury.

After making all under Andrea Atzeni at Newbury in August, the same tactics were repeated in the Dick Poole, with Yourtimeisnow finding plenty to keep her rivals at bay. Her Stakes success should not stop there either as she shapes like she'll stay seven furlongs or even a mile, bred that way to as a half-sister to Gr. 2-placed miler Hors de Combat amongst other winners.

Atzeni told the Racing Post after the race: "She has got so much natural speed. Mentally and physically she's getting better and she could be anything." She holds an entry in the Gr. 2 Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket on September 28.

Yourtimeisnow was bred by Boyce Bloodstock and Mrs C. E. Percival. She is out of Gone West mare Maid For Winning, who is a half-sister to American Gr. 1 winner Stroll. Maid For Winning's previous foal also include Stroll Patrol, a Gr. 3-placed two-year-old for Qatar Racing.

Yourtimeisnow was bought for 120,000 guineas at Tattersalls' Book 1 Yearling Sale last October. She was the fifth highest-priced Charm Spirit yearling to sell at public auction in 2017.

Charm Spirit has sired 16 individual winners and is third in the first-season sires' standings, both in terms of winners and total winnings. He is also the sire of Gr. 2-placed colt Charming Kid and dual winners Bailly, Diviner, Lively Lydia and Oberyn Martell. Juddmonte Farms homebred Fulminate is another Charm Spirit scorer.

Charm Spirit (Invincible Spirit) returns to Tweenhills for the 2019 season.
